How to get traffic for free

So , here's the deal. Inside July this year Search engines let UK charities in on their Google for Nonprofits scheme (hooray! ). We were campaigning just for this for a while so we were pretty happy, as it meant charities could access a whole bunch of features for free, including Google Apps.

As part of this scheme, Google are offering AdGrants, a not for profit version of AdWords, the pay-per-click advertising platform employed by millions of businesses worldwide.

In short, this means your charity stands to get free advertising which could vastly improve the quantity of relevant site traffic you get, helping you to achieve your wider goals and objectives.

What do AdGrants offer?
AdGrants give charities the chance to advertise for free, up to limit of $10, 500 per month (around? 6, 200).

The only downside to this is the fact that there is a limit of $2 per click, so expensive keywords are away (e. g. charity run). However, some clever wording and promoting of events with less common key words mean there are lots of ways around this. There's a convenient tool here to work out how much each keyword costs, but you must be logged in and registered to utilize it.
hat are the eligibility criteria?
You must:

Be located in the UK and registered with the Charities Commission in the UK and Ireland, the Office of the Scottish Charity Limiter or Inland Revenue.

Have a functioning website with substantial content (we can assist here).

Agree to accreditations regarding nondiscrimination and donation receipt and use.

The particular following organisations aren't qualified:

Government entities and organizations

Hospitals and medical organizations

Schools, childcare centres, academic institutions and universities (philanthropic arms of educational organizations are eligible).

How to sign up?
First you need to register for Google for Nonprofits, which can take up to 4 months, therefore the sooner you can register the better. Once you've been approved, you will receive an email explaining how to register for the several services Google offer, including AdGrants. You then need to create some adverts, think of your keywords, and submit your for approval. This particular can take an additional 6 weeks.

Even though it can appear a daunting activity, making the the majority of Google AdGrants could drastically raise the visibility of your charity. If you have any further questions, or require a hand with the process then get in touch. We'd be happy to help.
